I played it at school, followed Wakefield Trinity for years, and I still don't see any point to it, or understand the rules Confused

Used to play prop and flanker at Douglas, back in the day. Dropped in to see a match yesterday for the first time in ages, still exciting.

Don't understand league. I've watched my mate play but I still find myself asking things like "Why's he putting it on the ground?" Confused 'Tis a good game, though, as far as I understand it. Laughing

Union's still better. Razz

I've played both...but mostly league. I tried Union, but it just wasn't as much fun to play.

Watching either is very entertaining.

However, League wins Razz

Anyone contemplating taking up rugby league should first get hold of a copy of "This Sporting Life", starring Richard Harris. It was shot in and around Wakefield when I was a teenager, and is very authentic to the times.
The players in them days would get a fiver to top up their wages working at the local pit, with maybe a bit of a bonus if they won. If they got to Wembley, forty quid.......... Surprised

Oiiiii! Evil or Very Mad

I only played Union because the school wouldn't let me start a girls league side, they were non too happy about me starting a union side either, but my teacher was a wuss...! moon

And they didn't play League at Uni, either, Wales is big on Union (although they do well at League too)

Yeah "run for your life!" and a pre-requisite is also to have either been born brainless, or have had your brain removed at birth....very similar to sidecar racing!!! Green
