Don't care that the thermometer says -10c. The angle of the sun says spring! Just looking at Rumbled's pictures and thinking that you guys have had more snow than we have this year. Undoubtably due for a real dump before it all goes away, but the kitties say it is sunbathing weather!
Building projects are progressing well too. Occupancy permit is supposed to be end of March, so it might be a little tight but it's do-able...
No problem with security at the site, even though it is a little remote. I have a vicious guard dog!!

I should have shut-the-#$&@-up! It is about a zillion below here today, and the wind is blowing things all over the place. Brrr....
Still though, the sun is staying up about an hour longer already...
As an aside to the great view, guys.. That view did not exist a year ago! Three years ago, we started noticing some of the spruce looked a little brown. Upon investigation, we realized there were bugs under the bark chewing up a storm. In 2008, about 1/3 of the bush was dead! Last year we gave up and cut down about 35 acres and sold it off as pulp. Hopefully, we've slowed down the Spruce Bark Beetle, and maybe if it stays cold for a month it will kill off enough to slow down the feeding frenzy.
Now we've got a great view of the lake instead of thick, impenetratable bush. Unfortunately, we've also got a wind tunnel. Most of the hardwood we left undisturbed has been blown over.
The deer don't seem to mind, they like the new baby trees growing up. So do the bunnies!
The eagles think the whole thing is OK too... We left their island undisturbed, so the nest got bigger. And of course, an increase in the bunny population makes shopping for breakfast a lot easier. It will be interesting seing how many eagle babies are around this summer...

What a cool picture. I have seen a Bald Eagle perched on top of a tree right by my house a couple of times( in thirty years here) |

Yeah... They're cool an' all, but when you get Mom and Dad and the rotten little kid all sitting around in the trees behind your house it can get quite messy! AND noisy! They never shut up when it is suppertime! _________________ http://www.capebretonbikefest.com |

The world famous little red pickup is dead!
Sold it off to the local parts rebuilder/recycler a month ago after finding out the frame was rotten. Almost took a deal on a brand new Ford Ranger offered to me at cost by a grateful customer (that great monster house I designed last fall).
Just couldn't get my head around making payments on something for the rest of my life though, even if it was 'cost'!
Anyhoo... SWMBO told me to get my paws off of her van, so I needed something to keep me mobile while it is too slippery for only two wheels.
Long live the NEW world famous little red pick-up!
Almost exactly the same thing as the old one, but this one actually has steel underneath it instead of something that looks like shredded wheat. And all the fenders are plastic, so they're not rotten either!
Just found out it has air too! Roll on summer!!!
No wait... I don't need it then, do I? Damn!!

But is it goose-proof?
Groovy.
Brilliant to see that eagle too. Reminds me of when we used to get vultures in the back garden when I lived in the Falklands. _________________ Cake is the answer...and you know that for sure. |

With those wheels and all-over paint, it looks like it got the "Jr. NASCAR truck" treatment. You'll have to practice saying "The Red Green GMC was running good today, I'd like to thank my crew..."
The original "S10" platform was problematic, but it has been around forever so they probably finally got it sorted. Red would be something to stay away from around here, but it looks like you get a few fewer UV rays than we do. _________________

SMILO!! Great Idea! I'm going to go out and get one of those big truck spoiler things and put a windshield sticker on that says "Ground Effects" and maybe a few GoodYear or Tide stickers!!
...or maybe NOT...
and you're right again about the sunbeams here. Nothing fades. Paint stays nice and shiny until the salt air gets it from underneath and it just flakes off in big sheets! _________________ http://www.capebretonbikefest.com |
